Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Wer saget ihr aber, daß ich sei ? Da antwortete Petrus und sprach: Du bist der Christus Gottes!
21. Und er bedrohte sie und gebot, daß sie das niemand sagten,
22. und sprach: Des Menschen Sohn muß noch viel leiden und verworfen werden von den Ältesten und Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten und getötet werden und am dritten Tage auferstehen.
23. Da sprach er zu ihnen allen: Wer mir folgen will, der verleugne sich selbst und nehme sein Kreuz auf sich täglich und folge mir nach.
24. Denn wer sein Leben erhalten will, der wird es verlieren; wer aber sein Leben verliert um meinetwillen, der wird’s erhalten.
25. Und welchen Nutzen hätte der Mensch, ob er die ganze Welt gewönne, und verlöre sich selbst oder beschädigte sich selbst ?
26. Wer sich aber mein und meiner Worte schämt, des wird sich des Menschen Sohn auch schämen, wenn er kommen wird in seiner Herrlichkeit und seines Vaters und der heiligen Engel.
27. Ich sage euch aber wahrlich, daß etliche sind von denen, die hier stehen, die den Tod nicht schmecken werden, bis daß sie das Reich Gottes sehen.
28. Und es begab sich nach diesen Reden bei acht Tagen, daß er zu sich nahm Petrus, Johannes und Jakobus und ging auf einen Berg, zu beten.
29. Und da er betete, ward die Gestalt seines Angesichts anders, und sein Kleid ward weiß und glänzte.

20 And he said to them: But whom do you say that I am? Simon Peter answering, said: The Christ of God.
21 But he strictly charging them, commanded they should tell this to no man.
22 Saying: The Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected by the ancients and chief priests and scribes and be killed and the third day rise again.
23 And he said to all: If any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: for he that shall lose his life for my sake shall save it.
25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world and lose himself and cast away himself?
26 For he that shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him the Son of man shall be ashamed, when he shall come in his majesty and that of his Father and of the holy angels.
27 But I tell you of a truth: There are some standing here that shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God.
28 And it came to pass, about eight days after these words, that he took Peter and James and John and went up into a mountain to pray.

The saints shall rejoice in glory: they shall be joyful in their beds.
PSALM 148
PRAISE ye the Lord from the heavens: praise ye him in the high places.
2 Praise ye him, all his angels, praise ye him, all his hosts.
3 Praise ye him, O sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars and light.
4 Praise him, ye heavens of heavens: and let all the waters that are above the heavens

Der 149. Psalm
1. Halleluja! Singet dem HERRN ein neues Lied; die Gemeinde der Heiligen soll ihn loben.
2. Israel freue sich des, der es gemacht hat; die Kinder Zions seien fröhlich über ihren König.
3. Sie sollen loben seinen Namen im Reigen; mit Pauken und Harfen sollen sie ihm spielen.
4. Denn der HERR hat Wohlgefallen an seinem Volk; er hilft den Elenden herrlich.
5. Die Heiligen sollen fröhlich sein und preisen und rühmen auf ihren Lagern.
6. Ihr Mund soll Gott erheben, und sie sollen scharfe Schwerter in ihren Händen haben,
7. daß sie Rache üben unter den Heiden, Strafe unter den Völkern;
8. ihre Könige zu binden mit Ketten und ihre Edlen mit eisernen Fesseln;
9. daß sie ihnen tun das Recht, davon geschrieben ist. Solche Ehre werden alle seine Heiligen haben. Halleluja!
