EU MP Fulvio Martusciello: fulvio.martusciello@europa
For years, the EU did not really take a stand on the issue of collective boycotts. While some EU parliamentarians tried to tackle the issue in general and even tried to stop the organized boycotts against Israel, the EU as a whole kept its distance.
Well, that's all changed now since the EU issued its Report on Competition Policy for 2016 which includes the following clause, introduced by Mr. Fulvio Martusciello, a pro-Israel European Parliament lawmaker from Italy.: the EU "underlines the need to fight against unfair collective boycotts, defined as a situation in which a group of competitors agree to exclude an actual or potential competitor, as restrictions of competition by object".
There it is in black and white: no more collective or political boycotts by the EU – now all we have to hope for is that all the countries in the EU adopt this rejection which would effectively outlaw any governmental boycotts against Israel.
